Dream Intelligently A Youth Program "Turning dreams into goals and goals into reality" The Challenge The challenge is to save our youth! Our youth’s exposure to drugs, alcohol, sex and violence is at an all time high. South Carolina's SAT score ranking is 50th in the nation. South Carolina also has one of the highest high school dropout rates in the nation! In fact, over 50 percent of South Carolina’s ninth graders do not graduate from high school. Many fall short because they do not wish to deal with the peer pressures that come with unsatisfactory performance. Those who believe they have the looks or talent often begin to rely on dreams of making it in the entertainment industry. These dreams often resonate the deepest in the minds of youths from humble, and sometimes violent surroundings. To them it becomes more than just a dream of a better life. It becomes their only means of escape! There is an additional impact for our young ladies. What young lady would not wish to live the life of a super model? To be well respected and the center of attention wherever they go. How wonderful it would be to receive the popularity and adoration many young ladies only dream about. Unfortunately, many of our young ladies confuse love with sex. So naturally, this often reflects in their dress and attitude. Although they would argue, they often do this sacrificing their dignity and self-respect. A Viable Solution “Dream Intelligently” is a nonprofit youth educational and motivational program. We are currently catering to youths between the ages of 8 to 18 with an interest in pursuing careers in modeling or the entertainment business. This year we have added cheerleading and gymnastics. In return for performing satisfactorily in school, Dream Intelligently provides opportunities for them to gain the necessary tools needed for these highly competitive fields. The focus of the program is to make the youth look at themselves as entrepreneurs with a valuable product. To become a successful entrepreneur you need a formal education. The youth program consists of the following:
The Fundraiser In order to provide these opportunities to as many youth as possible we are having a fundraiser. We are determined to help curb teen violence and inspire greater enthusiasm for learning but we cannot do it alone. Dream Intelligently is relying on the school systems, businesses and individuals who are also concerned about the alarming statistics we mentioned above. We are asking them to support our youth program and the Dream Intelligently Teen Tri-County Talent and Fashion Show Fundraiser where all participants will receive a first hand introduction to the values of the program. Counties will include Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester.
THE FASHION SHOW/2007 MODEL SEARCH In the Championship show Southeast Talent will bring its own version of BET’S “Rip the Runway” show. Here fashion designers and retailers can have their clothing modeled in a high-energy environment that will ensure a captivated audience. We will also be continuing our 2007 Model Search.
